What's happening in the library for March 2011?

Kindergarten through 2nd Grade - This month we are focusing on Fairytales.  This is an important genre of literature that children love to be immersed in.  They are learning that every country and culture has its own version of well-loved fairytales. These stories were spread through word of mouth,  some many centuries old. Hopefully your children will share them with you and keep the tradition going.

Third Grade will be focusing on learning facts about China.  Using their "Passports" the students will learn about the country through its Folktales, and doing research using nonfiction books and websites.

Fourth Grade - Students are learning about Reference Books.  These include Dictionary, Thesaurus, Atlas, Almanac and Encyclopedias. Students will learn what these books have to offer and how to use them for independent research.

Fifth Grade - This month we are focusing on Internet Safety. These lessons let students know that it is  important to have adult supervision when they go on the Internet and not to give out any personal information on the Internet.  Students will also be learning how to evaluate a website for information and interest.
