Event Chaperone – Job Description

Event Chaperones are to wear shirts and/or jackets provided for by the Athletic Department.  They are bright yellow in color.

Some of the responsibilities include:

• Visibility and monitoring of spectators
• Supporting and encouraging appropriate spectator behavior
• Controlling noise levels at inappropriate times
• Promotion of good sportsmanship
• Competition operation (timers, scorers, announcers, etc)
• Assisting the Athletic Director with competition responsibilities
• Acting as liaison for Officials and Opponents
• Being proactive regarding student, parental and spectator behavior
• Monitoring the game environment, not the game itself. Chaperones are stationed at the discretion of the Head Chaperone, Coach or Athletic Director
• Any other responsibilities as assigned by the Head Chaperone, Coach, or Athletic Director

In the event of an emergency situation, Event Chaperones are expected to follow the direction of the Head Chaperone, Coach or Athletic Director.
