SMITHTOWN WEST GIRLS SOCCER
Important
dates and information:
Soccer fields at High School West at 7:30
am for check in on the first day. Be prepared to attend daily dual sessions for
the week of August 29 through September 2nd. AM sessions are from
8 -10 and PM sessions are from 5-7.

Varsity Fitness Standards -
FOR FIELD PLAYERS:
1. Be able to run 1 ½ MILES in
10:30 MINUTES OR LESS.
2. Be able to reach LEVEL 9 on
the PACER (BEEP) TEST.
FOR
GOALKEEPERS:
1. Be able to run ONE MILE in
7.5 MINUTES OR LESS.
2. Be able to reach LEVEL 8
on the PACER (BEEP) TEST.
****will also be timed in the 100 and 40
yards.

Try – Out Criteria – All Levels
There are always high hopes for the Smithtown West Girls’
Soccer Program. It will be very competitive during tryouts, for playing time,
and for starting spots. It is up to each and every individual as to how you
will contribute and be a part of the success of the program.
WHAT
THE COACHES ARE LOOKING FOR: All Levels
The following aspects of each individual player will be
examined and identified during tryouts and the season.

Physical – Is the player fit and well conditioned?

Technical – Does the player have the ability to perform the basic
techniques of soccer: dribbling, passing and receiving, shooting, heading,
defending, etc.?

Tactical – Does the player understand the game of soccer: attacking
and defending principles, combination play, positional understanding, field
awareness, etc.?

Psychological – Does the player posses the mental aspects to
succeed: mental toughness, positive attitude, coachability, work ethic,
etc.?

Be sure to complete all required paperwork
(this can be found at

Be prepared
to submit your physical examination slip on the first day of try-outs,
August 31. No player will be permitted to try out with out completing and
submitting the appropriate paperwork. Including the
concussion screening.
- You will be
required to bring water, shin guards, cleats and running shoes.
It is recommended that you
bring anything else that
you feel you may need: ex - extra
water, stop watch, towel, extra socks, sun block etc. Better safe than
sorry.

Summer League -
We will be competing in two divisions
this summer for both the JV and Varsity levels. Information on games,
